Dayton Metro Library will host Facing Eviction and Housing Insecurity: Listening to Community Voices in the Main Library’s Eichelberger Forum, on Sunday, April 23, from 2-4 pm.
Sinclair Community College and The Facing Project will unveil a special book that captures live stories about eviction and housing insecurity from those in the community who have experienced it. Parts of the stories will be shared with a theatrical performance during the Facing Eviction program, which earmarks the close of Evicted, an exhibit that has been on display in Main’s Opportunity Space at St. Clair.
Inspired by the Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name by Matthew Desmond, the National Building Museum created a large-scale Evicted exhibition that took visitors into the world of low-income renter eviction. Then the Museum decided to create a traveling exhibit for smaller venues and with updated data, and DML has been the tour’s final stop. Patrons have just a few days left to view the exhibit before it leaves on Sunday, April 23.
For more information, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org or call the Library’s Ask Me Line at 937.463.2665. The Main Library is located at 215 East Third Street, Dayton.
