The Former DP&L steam generating plant closed its doors in the mid-1980s after eight decades of operation. Several attempts to revitalize the historical building failed and the city of Dayton took ownership of the abandoned property.
The unique architecture, arched windows, curb appeal and location in Downtown Dayton spoke to the current owner who was looking for office space in the area. The owner was instantly captivated by the building not only for its potential as office space but for its monumental and un-recreate-able grand hall, which he envisioned as a natural entertainment and event venue.
The result is a careful three-year renovation and rehabilitation of the neglected space. A deliberate process to maintain the historical integrity of the building while bringing it into the 21st century to offer first-class amenities. Every aspect of the building has been touched to give The Steam Plant a second life!
