An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until Wednesday, August 31, 2022
Dayton Metro Library will host the work of Dayton artist Dr. Hyacinth Paul in a Plein Aire Paintings from Provence and Barcelona exhibit at two locations:
Wednesday, August 3-Wednesday, August 31
Thursday, September 1-Friday, September 30
Dr. Paul is a retired scientist and professor who was recently awarded an Artist Opportunity Grant from the Montgomery County Arts and Cultural District (MCACD) administered by Culture Works.
Plein air (French for “outdoors”) painting involves the artist painting outside, on location. Because of her grant, Paul was able to study the art of plein air painting by attending a workshop in Provence, France and taking an art tour in Barcelona, Spain. Her work is both abstract and realistic, and according to her website, is “mostly done in oil, acrylics, and mixed media and is very colorful because [she believes] that color sparks synesthesia and involuntarily evokes feeling of joy.”
