DESCRIPTION:The Black Midwest Initiative hosts a biennial symposium that features artists\, activists\, academics\, and other community-involved people to discuss issues related to Black life in the Midwest. Past symposiums have been hosted in Minneapolis and Detroit\, but in 2024 it is coming to Dayton! \nThe third biennial symposium unfolds under the illuminating theme of “Adaptive Reuse\,” a beacon for change in the Midwest’s urban landscapes. \nThis year’s theme\, “Adaptive Reuse\,” is more than a concept– it’s a call to action for Black communities and allies across the Midwest.
