All visitors will be required to wear a properly fitted life jacket. Swimming is prohibited in the Great Miami River\, but visitors should come prepared to get wet. Those renting will not be permitted to go through the RiverScape River Run whitewater feature. No lifeguards are on duty\, and paddling is at all visitors’ own risk. The NEA Big Read Dayton is presented in partnership with the Fitz Center for Leadership in Community at the University of Dayton\, Daybreak Dayton\, the Paul Laurence Dunbar House\, the African American Visual Artists Guild (AAVAG)\, and other community partners\, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.\nThe NEA Big Read Kick-Off Celebration will feature dialogues between Dr. ShaDawn Battle and Dr. Nancy McHugh and a cultural experience with food curated from London Coe of Peace on Fifth.
