DESCRIPTION:Join us for an amazing night of live music as Blackspot\, The Rough Customers (Lexington\, KY)\, & Never Try take over Yellow Cab Tavern!\n$10 cover starts at 8pm with music starting at 9pm.\nNever Try is a hodgepodge quartet of Dayton-music veterans. They have been described as\, “Dayton’s lively love letter to 1990s and 2000s pop-punk.” Never Try’s live performance is a seriously good time with not so serious songs.\nThe Rough Customers are a high energy Ska Punk outfit from Lexington\, Ky. That\, on top of a delightfully fun and engaging live show\, ensures the audience an unforgettably good time!\nBlackspot is a three-piece progressive punk band from Dayton Ohio\, whose music blends elements of speed\, aggression\, and chaos to create a truly unique and high energy sound.

SUMMARY:Vienna Boys Choir: Christmas In Vienna
DESCRIPTION:The illustrious group of child musicians has been delighting music lovers across the globe for six centuries with their purity of tone\, distinctive charm and popular repertoire. The enormously popular chorus is composed of four touring choirs that hail from dozens of nations and together give over 300 concerts a year around the world. CHRISTMAS IN VIENNA showcases these gifted musicians with voices of unforgettable beauty in an extraordinary program featuring Austrian folk songs\, classical masterpieces\, popular songs\, and\, of course\, holiday favorites. The Fort Worth Star-Telegram raves “There’s no more gratifying sound than that of children singing. And there’s no more polished ensemble of children’s voices than the Vienna Boys Choir.” \nThe Vienna Boys Choir is one of the most famous choirs in the world\, and one of the oldest. Boys have been singing at Vienna’s Imperial Chapel since at least 1296. In 1498 Holy Roman Emperor Maximilian I. established a Court Chapel in Vienna where he declared that there were to be boys among the singers\, thus laying the foundation for the Vienna Boys Choir. Today\, the former imperial ensemble is a private\, non-profit organization with a primary and grammar school for 330 boys and girls between the ages of six and nineteen with a focus on choral music and singing. The Vienna Boys Choir’s education\, listed by UNESCO as cultural heritage\, is open to all\, regardless of origin\, gender\, nationality\, or religion. \nThe four boys’ choirs perform almost 300 concerts per year\, with almost half a million people attending. Since 1924\, the choirs have completed more than 1000 tours in 100 different countries\, clocking up a staggering 29\,000 concerts. \nOn Sundays\, the choirs sing mass in Vienna’s Imperial Chapel with members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and the men’s chorus of the Vienna State Opera. They have performed with orchestras led by conductors such as Joana Mallwitz\, Zubin Mehta\, Riccardo Muti\, Christian Thielemann\, Simone Young\, and Franz Welser-Möst; and appear at the Salzburg Festival and at the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic. \nThe Vienna Boys Choir partners with UNICEF and several other charities. In 2023\, the Choir celebrated its 525th anniversary. To mark the occasion\, Deutsche Grammophon released a live album of the anniversary concert in Vienna’s Musikverein\, Decca Classics released a box set of 21 CDs\, and Böhlau released a book on the Choir’s history. In 2024\, the Vienna Boys Choir and the Vienna Girls Choir jointly received the European Culture Award. \nErasmus Baumgartner has been serving as Artistic Director of the Vienna Boys Choir and the entire Campus Augarten since 2023. The Choir’s President is Erich Arthold.

SUMMARY:Rike’s Holiday Windows
DESCRIPTION:The holiday season is here and one of Dayton’s most beloved traditions is visiting the Rike’s Holiday Windows! \nThe RIKE’S HOLIDAY WINDOWS’ animated elves and animals first appeared in NCR’s New York office windows in 1943\, but many Daytonians remember them from their annual holiday pilgrimage to the Rike’s Department Store which sat on the corner of Second and Main Streets (where the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center now sits). They’ve been on display in the Schuster Center’s Wintergarden during the holidays for more than 20 years. \nIn 2018\, the displays were redesigned by critically acclaimed theatre and opera scenic designer and Dayton native Adam Koch\, reconstructed by internationally acclaimed set and stage designers Scenic Solutions from West Carrollton\, Ohio\, and the characters were recostumed by the Dayton Sewing Collaborative. \nSANTA’S SECRET\nSanta and his magical team of crafty reindeer make a special stop each year to the Schuster Center to hide a special something in each of the Rike’s Holiday Windows. Can you guess what it is this year? It’s tiny\, often at a child’s eye level\, and has something to do with Dayton! \nIf you’re right\, you’ll be entered to win a special gift certificate from Dayton Live. The winning entry will be notified after the new year begins! \nYou’ll be able to submit your entry when the RIKE’S HOLIDAY WINDOWS open for the season! \n  \nWindows are generally available for viewing Monday-Friday 6 a.m.-6:30 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m.-5 p.m. The windows will be closed Thanksgiving Day\, Christmas Eve\, Christmas Day\, New Year’s Eve\, and New Year’s Day\, and will not be available for public viewing during private events. \nPresented by Dayton Live

SUMMARY:DAI presents Free Community Tour : Merry Grinchmas and (B)Art
DESCRIPTION:A tour experience exploring the art and fun of the Merry Grinchmas: Art of Dr. Seuss’ Holiday Classic & (B)ART! America’s Funniest Animated Family special exhibition. Cost: FREE for #MuseumMembers and with the purchase of general museum admission! Advanced tickrting and registration is not required\, but encouraged! Location: Special Exhibition Ages: 6+ Two of America’s most beloved animated works come together for this Special Exhibition. In 1966\, the animation of Chuck Jones brought to life Dr. Seuss’ beloved 1957 children’s book. The animated story became a true television classic\, with generations watching annually the story of redemption about the despicable Grinch\, the sweet Cindy Lou Who and the innocent dog Max. The exhibition will feature original cel art used in the cartoon’s production\, along with concept drawings by Jones (famous for Looney Tunes) and Dr. Seuss. Laugh along with America’s funniest animated family! Homer\, Marge\, Lisa\, Maggie and Bart appeared in living rooms all over America in 1989 in the longest-running animated television series\, with more than 750 episodes to date. Now made with cost-effective digital animation\, the first 13 seasons (1989–2002) were made by hand with ink-and-paint on clear acetate cels\, which were placed under a camera and slowly pieced together\, showing the often irreverent but lovable antics of so many other unforgettable characters. In the early seasons\, elements now vital to the series were created\, including the famous sofa and living room set used to open each episode\, which will be replicated at the DAI. These two exhibitions\, presented side-by-side\, will be fun\, colorful and truly memorable. Not to be missed! From the collection of Bill Heeter and Kristi Correa
