SUMMARY:Grafton Hill Home\, Garden & Historic Auto Show
DESCRIPTION:Step beyond the ropes and experience one of Dayton’s most storied neighborhoods in a way few people ever do. On Saturday\, June 20\, the Grafton Hill Home\, Garden & Historic Auto Show invites guests to spend the day exploring grand historic homes\, nationally recognized gardens\, architectural landmarks\, and vintage automobiles in one of Dayton’s most beautiful and fascinating neighborhoods. This is far more than a traditional home tour. Wander through eight private historic homes and gardens\, including a garden recognized by the Smithsonian Institution’s Archives of American Gardens. Step inside the historic Dayton Masonic Center and tour the newly restored Commodore Apartments\, a 1924 landmark that sat vacant for years before undergoing a remarkable $7.4 million transformation. Along the way\, discover beautifully preserved architecture\, hidden gardens\, original craftsmanship\, and the stories of the families\, inventors\, and visionaries who helped shape Dayton’s history. Car enthusiasts will enjoy historic automobiles displayed throughout the neighborhood\, ranging from early twentieth-century vehicles to classic muscle cars of the 1960s. The automotive theme is especially fitting in Grafton Hill\, where Col. Edward A. Deeds once lived and worked alongside Charles F. Kettering to develop the electric starter\, an invention that forever changed the automobile industry. The experience extends beyond the homes themselves. Stroll tree-lined streets\, meet homeowners and neighbors\, enjoy food trucks\, and explore the cultural landmarks that make Grafton Hill unique\, including the Dayton Art Institute\, Dayton Masonic Center\, and Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. Whether you’re passionate about architecture\, gardens\, historic preservation\, design\, automobiles\, Dayton history\, or simply enjoy discovering places you don’t normally get to see\, the Grafton Hill Home\, Garden & Historic Auto Show offers a rare opportunity to experience all of these in a single afternoon. Last admission at 2 p.m. Rain or Shine. Lots of walking involved.  https://graftonhilltourtickets.eventbrite.com

Known for their fresh mix of hip-hop\, plena\, reggae\, and dancehall music; the Grammy-nominated duo represents the cutting edge of Pan-American flows.\nTaking their name from the Panamanian word “Rakataka\,” a negative slur used to describe someone from the ghetto\, Los Rakas have set out to inspire fellow “Rakas” by empowering them to become successful despite their circumstances. \nIn 2012\, Los Rakas released their EP\, Raka Love\, touring nationally and internationally. Their debut album on Universal Music Latino\, El Negrito Dun Dun y Ricardo\, released in 2014. In 2016\, Los Rakas released their self-titled\, second album earning them a Grammy nomination for “Best Latin Rock\, Urban or Alternative Album”. Their 2019 album Manes De Negocio is best described by Remezcla as a “socially conscious trap soiree”. Los Rakas has performed with artists like Dave Chappelle\, Snoop Dogg\, Berner\, JBalvin\, Kehlani\, Zion & LennoxCypress Hill\, E40\, Ice Cube\, Kali Uchis\, Shaggy\, and Nina Sky to name a few. They have also collaborated with artists such as Blondie\, Amara La Negra\, Carmack\, Kafu Banton\, Kat Dahlia\, D-Smoke\, Goapele\, P-Lo and in 2022 their hit single Uno2Tres will be featured in the FIFA 22 soundtrack. \nAs KQED states\, Los Rakas are “positioning themselves as the heirs of pioneering Black Panamanian reggaetoneros such as El General and Renato.” Los Rakas are turning the current Latin hip-hop world on its head. \nProjects Unlimited & Wyse Family Foundation Gem Series Opener: ISAI MORALES

SUMMARY:Those English Girls
DESCRIPTION:The Human Race Theatre Company’s Playwright’s Night featuring THOSE ENGLISH GIRLS by Michael London and directed by Emily N. Wells. \nOn a night in 1941\, during the Blitz\, in a Bermondsey area bomb-shelter in London\, two sisters share their story of saving the lives of 29 refugees that were trying to escape Hitler’s Germany before the outbreak of World War II. Escaping their average work-a-day lives\, opera became their passion. But when their friends needed help\, the opera became their cover to help escape evil. \nIda and Louise Cook were average London spinsters making low wages and living at home with family when an opportunity came to them in 1938. An opportunity to save lives. They summoned their courage and their cleverness and found themselves crossing borders into Nazi dominated Europe. On each trip\, under the cover of opera\, they smuggled the money and valuables of their friends to London\, and eventually the friends themselves\, saving each of them from a certain end in a death camp. \nTHOSE ENGLISH GIRLS is the third play in A Resilience Trilogy by Michael London.

SUMMARY:Beetlejuice: The Musical
DESCRIPTION:He earned his stripes on Broadway… now the ghost-with-the-most is coming to Dayton. \nIt’s showtime! Based on Tim Burton’s dearly beloved film\, this hilarious musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz\, a strange and unusual teenager whose whole life changes when she meets a recently deceased couple and a demon with a thing for stripes. With an irreverent book and a score that’s out of this Netherworld\, BEETLEJUICE is “SCREAMINGLY GOOD FUN!” (Variety). And under its uproarious surface (six feet under\, to be exact)\, it’s a remarkably touching show about family\, love\, and making the most of every Day-O!
