SUMMARY:The Black Child Book Fair Tour
DESCRIPTION:Dayton Metro Library will host The Black Child Book Fair Tour on Saturday\, October 18\, from 10 am-3 pm\, in the Bassani Theater Off Third\, 3rd Floor\, and the Community Room at the Main Library. \n  \nThe Black Child Book Fair is a nonprofit organization that promotes African American-focused reading materials in urban communities nationwide. Its mission is to enrich the educational\, emotional\, developmental\, and social needs of youth from diverse backgrounds. \n  \n“Books for Black children are hard to find\,” is a statement heard all too often in society. Black children need to see faces that look like theirs and read stories about people who look like them – written by people who look like them. \n  \nFamilies are invited to join DML for this transformative event\, which aims to close the Greater Dayton Area’s opportunity gap through literacy awareness. \n  \nFor more information about the Black Child Book Fair\, visit blackchildbookfair.com. Additional information about this program can be found at DaytonMetroLibrary.org or by calling the Library’s Ask Me Line at 937.463.2665.

Tronsor’s limen series is a collection of photographs created during a period of self-quarantine focusing on his apartment windows\, which were sealed shut and covered with a white semi-opaque film. The resulting photos reflect landscapes paralleling tundras or oceans with their own depth and singularity. There will be a virtual artist talk via Zoom on Friday\, October 3\, 2025\, at 12pm. Visit www.sinclair.edu/artgalleries for details. The exhibitions will be on display from September 29–October 28\, 2025. Galleries are located on the fourth floor of building 13 (located at West Fifth and Perry Streets). The galleries are free and open to the public from 8am–6pm Monday–Friday and 9am–12pm Saturdays. Free and accessible parking is located in Parking Lot K.

SUMMARY:Sinclair Theatre presents anthropology
DESCRIPTION:Sinclair Theatre is proud to present anthropology\, Lauren Gunderson’s contemporary thriller\, live on stage from October 10-18 in Sinclair’s Black Box Theatre\, Building 2\, on Sinclair’s downtown Dayton campus. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at www.sinclair.edu/tickets. Groups of 20 or more ordering online save all ticketing fees. When Merril creates an AI version of her sister\, she finds herself questioning the difference between reality and fiction. As her creation begins to develop motives of its own\, Merril’s life is thrown into chaos as her family gets pulled into the power of a well-programmed machine. A story that intertwines the love of family with AI technology\, anthropology will take you on a journey that will have you questioning what is real and what is not. “While anthropology is a roller coaster of the contrasting tensions between technology and its creators\,” says Gunderson\, “this play is truly a very human story of family\, grief\, resilience\, love and sisterhood… all new technology – like all art – is first and foremost a method of expressing and coming to understand ourselves.” The cast consists of Tiffany Higgins\, Adalia Gaynier\, Rosi Green\, Kimberly Borst\, and Ryan Ford. Where: Sinclair Community College\, Black Box Theatre (Building 2)\, 444 W. Third St.\, Dayton Ticket Information: $15 plus $2 service fee. No at-the-door ticket sales. All tickets must be purchased online at: www.sinclair.edu/tickets
