DESCRIPTION:Part of RiverScape Kayak Rentals series \nKayak Rentals at RiverScape with Taiter’s Kayak Solutions\n2:00pm – 6:00pm \nAGE: 10 and up | $15.00\n\nPaddle under the fountains with Taiter’s Kayak Solutions all summer long at RiverScape MetroPark! Kayakers launch from under the Riverside Bridge along the Great Miami Recreational Trail\, and the cost to participate is $15 per person per hour. Taiter’s Kayak Solutions staff will provide participants with brief instructions prior to entering the water – including a safety tutorial – and will help participants get into their vessels. All participants will be required to wear a properly fitted life jacket. Swimming is prohibited in the Great Miami River\, but participants should come prepared to get wet. Participants will also not be permitted to go through the RiverScape River Run whitewater feature. No lifeguards are on duty\, and paddling is at all participants’ own risk. All participants will be required to sign a waiver before entering their vessel\, and all minors must have a parent/guardian present. DESCRIPTION:The Sinclair Community College Art Department is pleased to present The Dialogue by Chao Ding in the Burnell R. Roberts Triangle Gallery and limen series by John Tronsor in the Works on Paper Gallery. The Dialogue is a visual diary of paintings exploring evocative moments and fragments of time in the artist’s life. Ding explores loneliness and mystery through textural layers and subtle colors\, focusing on revealing forgotten beauties and poetic significance through deserted spaces in the work. Tronsor’s limen series is a collection of photographs created during a period of self-quarantine focusing on his apartment windows\, which were sealed shut and covered with a white semi-opaque film. The resulting photos reflect landscapes paralleling tundras or oceans with their own depth and singularity. There will be a virtual artist talk via Zoom on Friday\, October 3\, 2025\, at 12pm. SUMMARY:Ding Chao and John Tronsor Exhibit
DESCRIPTION:The Sinclair Community College Art Department is pleased to present The Dialogue by Chao Ding in the Burnell R. Roberts Triangle Gallery and limen series by John Tronsor in the Works on Paper Gallery. The Dialogue is a visual diary of paintings exploring evocative moments and fragments of time in the artist’s life. Ding explores loneliness and mystery through textural layers and subtle colors\, focusing on revealing forgotten beauties and poetic significance through deserted spaces in the work. Tronsor’s limen series is a collection of photographs created during a period of self-quarantine focusing on his apartment windows\, which were sealed shut and covered with a white semi-opaque film. The resulting photos reflect landscapes paralleling tundras or oceans with their own depth and singularity. There will be a virtual artist talk via Zoom on Friday\, October 3\, 2025\, at 12pm. Galleries are located on the fourth floor of building 13 (located at West Fifth and Perry Streets). The galleries are free and open to the public from 8am–6pm Monday–Friday and 9am–12pm Saturdays. DESCRIPTION:Test Your Strength in the Oktoberfest Steinholding Competition\, presented by Pella Windows & Doors of Dayton! Masskrugstemmen\, or beer Steinholding\, is a relatively new sport in America\, but its popularity has been growing quickly. We are excited to bring this longstanding sport to the Dayton Art Institute’s Oktoberfest as an official U.S. Steinholding Association qualifying event! Our Steinholding competition will be held on Sunday\, Sept. 28\, 2025\, at 2 p.m. in front of the main museum entrance. Meet us at the food court stage at 1:45 p.m. to check in for the competition. DESCRIPTION:Raise your glass for the return of Oktoberfest\, presented by Miller Lite\, taking place September 26-28\, 2025 on the Dayton Art Institute museum grounds. A Dayton tradition established in 1971\, DAI’s Oktoberfest is southwest Ohio’s longest-running Oktoberfest celebration and the museum’s largest annual fundraiser. Money raised by Oktoberfest helps support everything we do at the Dayton Art Institute. Oktoberfest kicks off on September 26 with a Lederhosen Lunch (11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) and the Preview Party (7 to 11 p.m.) Then it’s two full days of Oktoberfest fun\, from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday\, September 27 and noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday\, September 28! Tickets go on sale August 6. Remember to bring your ID with you to check-in at the gate. Ohio liquor laws require us to wristband all patrons over the age of 21\, regardless of their intended beverage consumption. Check back often on the DAI Octoberfest website for updates!
