SUMMARY:Explorer Albert Lin: In Search Of Lost Cities
DESCRIPTION:Albert Lin is a professional explorer\, blurring boundaries between human and machine\, while uncovering the lost relics of our past. In 2016\, Albert lost his leg below the knee as a result of a car accident in the California Dunes. His transformation through the use of innovative prosthetics drives his relentless quest into the farthest reaches of our planet – from Mongolia to the Mayan jungle – employing a technologist’s approach to unearth lost cultural stories and rituals. His first National Geographic expedition was to Mongolia to locate the elusive tomb of the leader Genghis Khan. Today\, he continues his search using cutting-edge satellite technology to locate the lost cities of the Maya and uncover timeless insights in the Arabian desert\, exploring human resilience and ancient wisdom. \nAlbert’s most noteworthy accomplishment involves using lidar (laser mapping) to uncover ancient cities concealed beneath the canopies of remote jungles\, mountain ranges\, and deserts. His expeditions have been brought to a global audience in adventure-driven factual TV series\, including “Lost Treasures Of The Maya\,” “Buried Secrets Of The Bible\,” and “Lost Cities With Albert Lin.” Fueled by a Ph.D. in engineering\, Albert surveys ancient civilizations with a keen eye.

SUMMARY:Bizet’s Carmen
DESCRIPTION:A tempestuous heart. A fatal attraction. Seductive music. This is Bizet’s iconic CARMEN – the story of a fiery woman who dances to her own rhythm\, a soldier ensnared by her captivating spirit\, and the jealousy that propels them toward tragedy. Featuring some of opera’s most passionate melodies\, from the “Habanera” to the “Toreador Song\,” CARMEN explodes with energy. \nWe’ve assembled an all-female team to lead this story: Chelsea Gallo\, a rising star within the conducting world; Irene Rodriguez\, an award-winning Flamenco dancer and choreographer; and Dayton Opera’s Artistic Director Kathleen Clawson as stage director. Partnering with the Dayton Ballet and the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra\, they promise to bring an authentic and vibrant interpretation to the stage.

SUMMARY:Dominate The Storm: A Heart-Pumping Evening With Reed Timmer
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Reed Timmer is an extreme meteorologist and storm chaser who specializes in intercepting the most powerful storms on the planet to collect valuable scientific data. Graduating with a PhD in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma\, Timmer is not only a hardcore storm chaser\, but also a scientist driven to unravel the mysteries behind these destructive storms and how they are changing over time. With a life devoted completely to storm chasing and extreme field research\, Dr. Timmer has intercepted over 1\,000 tornadoes and over 50 hurricanes over the last few decades\, and is one of the few people in history to chase both an EF5 tornado and Category 5 hurricane. He considers the up-close chasing of tornadoes an artform that is perfected over decades of experience. The famous\, tank-like storm-chasing vehicles\, called the Dominators\, were invented by Timmer in 2009 for the purpose of recording data inside these most dangerous storms. \nStill in full operation today\, the Dominators are outfitted with state-of-the-art meteorological sensors\, and protected by an aerodynamic\, armored outer shell that can anchor to the ground with hydraulic spikes. Reed has pioneered delivery mechanisms for deployment of sensors into tornadoes and hurricanes\, such as ground-based probes\, drones\, balloons\, and even model rockets. Dr. Timmer has driven directly inside 10 tornadoes in the Dominator 3 since 2020 to become the storm chaser who has been inside more tornadoes than any human in history.

SUMMARY:Exhibit: Beyond Guilt
DESCRIPTION:Beyond Guilt is a compelling visual experience that tells the powerful and redemptive stories of those impacted by over-sentencing and over-punishment. This exhibit will be available for public view during our normal operating hours from August 15\, 2025 through November 9\, 2025. In their stories we learn about the human consequences of second chances and the ethical necessity to see and treat people beyond their guilt. The exhibition features a growing collection of work\, including thirteen short films\, a powerful photo series by Cincinnati artist\, Harriet Kaufman\, and works of art across visual\, written\, andother media by incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals whose stories embody the mission of Beyond Guilt. The exhibition is a collaboration with the International Peace Museum and the Ohio Justice & Policy Center’s Beyond Guilt project – a state-wide advocacy project that serves incarcerated people who have been over-sentenced and demonstrate the ability to be safely released from prison. Materials were created in collaboration with Northern Kentucky University and The Ohio State University. Learn more about the Beyond Guilt project at: ohiojpc.org/our-work/beyond-guilt
