DESCRIPTION:Artists Katherine Kadish & David Leach discuss their work\, Crossroads\, on display at The Contemporary Dayton. Exhibit runs through August 10\, 2024. \nThe Contemporary Dayton is proud to present new and recent work by two of the area’s most esteemed artists\, each and together exploring recent “crossroads” in their lives. The exhibition will feature Kadish’s evocative monotype and painted colorscapes paired with Leach’s abstracted landscape\, architecture\, and interior drawings and prints; as well as two new monotypes the artists created collaboratively for the exhibition. \nBoth artists have exhibited widely and are featured in prominent public and private collections all over the world. Kadish is based in Yellow Springs and often collaborates with Lisa Mackie\, Master Prints\, NY. Leach is based in Dayton\, is Emeritus Professor\, Wright State University\, and an active member of the Dayton Printmakers Co-op. \nIn conjunction with the exhibition\, a selection of monotypes and prints by the artists will be available for purchase in The CoSHOP Pop-up Print Shop.

DESCRIPTION:Dayton Metro Library partners with Welcome Dayton to host a World Refugee Day Celebration on Saturday\, June 22\, 11 am-2 pm\, in the Main Library’s Eichelberger Forum. \n  \nPatrons can honor and learn about Dayton’s refugee population (those who have fled war and atrocities in their home countries) with a panel and cultural displays. Music\, dancing\, and refreshments will also be provided. \n  \nRegistration is not required. All ages are welcome. The Main Library is located at 215 E. Third Street\, Dayton\, 45402. Ample free parking is provided in the parking garage adjacent to the Library\, accessible off St. Clair\, as well as on the street. DESCRIPTION:Welcome Dayton\, in collaboration with community partners\, will host a World Refugee Day celebration on Saturday\, June 22. World Refugee Day is an annual event designated by the United Nations to honor the courage\, strength\, and determination of refugees. The community is invited to celebrate and welcome Dayton’s refugee community at the Dayton Metro Library (215 E. Third St.) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Eichelberger Forum\, main floor). Admission is free. Dayton’s World Refugee Day event will include performances\, music\, interactive activities\, educational displays\, a panel discussion\, and light refreshments. Children’s activities will also be offered. Refugees now living in the Dayton area have arrived from locations including the Democratic Republic of Congo\, Rwanda\, Sudan\, Uganda\, Afghanistan\, and Ukraine. Catholic Social Services of the Miami Valley will accept donations of the following items for the Refugee Resettlement Program: bath towels\, ethnic shampoo/conditioner\, deodorant\, hand soap\, body wash\, new twin bed sheets\, blankets and pillows.
