DESCRIPTION:“Am I an American or Am I Not”: \nA Traveling Exhibit and Talk with Karen Korematsu\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Korematsu Institute is proud to present the exhibit “Am I an American or Am I Not?” in Ohio for the very first time. \n  \nThe exhibition’s title\, “Am I an American or Am I Not?”\, is inspired by the courageous legacy of Fred Korematsu\, a U.S.-born citizen who boldly challenged the government’s wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans. His fight for justice continues to echo today. \n  \nIn honor of this historic moment\, Dr. Karen Korematsu will speak at the Dayton International Peace Museum on Saturday\, April 26 at 11:00 AM. This free public event\, co-sponsored by Wright State University\, offers a unique opportunity to hear firsthand about civil liberties\, identity\, and the ongoing struggle for justice in America. \n  \nVisitors to the exhibit will experience a powerful visual narrative through photographs by iconic artists such as Dorothea Lange and Clem Albers\, as well as work from contemporary photographers. The film explores how learning to read can break cycles of generational poverty. \nAn immersive and vulnerable exploration of the epidemic of childhood illiteracy\, Sentenced presents a series of braided\, character-driven stories.
