INTRODUCING: DPAA Summer Streams
Dive into the refreshing waters of classical music, song and dance this summer with our new FREE virtual concert series. The DPAA is thrilled to present three virtual summer concert series comprising a total of NINE summer concerts for you to enjoy!
For our Recital Series and Family Series, small DPAA ensembles have taken the stage in the PNC Arts Annex and recorded concerts live and in person together, socially distanced, of course, for the first time since March! We are so excited to be able to share these recorded performances with you! We have also prepared a DPAA Replay Series for a virtual multimedia replay of three previous breathtaking DPAA performances, with brand new photo and video presentations to accompany the exquisite recorded music.
Words From Home
At the beginning of the shelter-in-place order, Grace Curtis came to us with an idea—a virtual poetry reading. Since we cannot meet for our regularly scheduled readings and events, we are hosting virtual poetry readings: Words From Home.

Young songwriters from across Dayton recently took a week-long, free virtual songwriting camp to spark their creativity while working alongside GRAMMY-winning artists and music professionals including Steve Berlin of Los Lobos, Gina Chavez, Deron Bell of Dayton Funk All-Stars, Hector Flores of Las Cafeteras, and Making Movies! On the last day of camp, students performed their work live-streamed on the Levitt Dayton Facebook page. Best of all, the students who attended all 5 days of the camp will now have the opportunity for a deeper dive with industry professionals, and have been invited perform on the Levitt Dayton stage along with Latin Grammy-nominated Making Movies sometime in our 2021 season.

Once called a “lyricist with the heart of a poet” by one music reviewer and “the headbanger’s favorite folk artist” by a New England festival promoter, Kesler has taken her meld of acoustic driven folk/pop/rock across the United States, and as far as to Australia and the Netherlands. With six CD projects plus multiple singles to her credit, 2020 finds her in a season of writing and producing, and also co-writing as half of the ambient dream pop duo Every Lovely Thing.
When writing songs to perform herself, Marianne loves to describe her organic vibe as a quirky meeting between some of her favorite music artists: “Imagine if Joni Mitchell got together with Leonard Cohen for a writing session at the coffeehouse where Neil Young and Counting Crows were playing, folk artist Jan Krist was singing, Tori & Fiona were pouting, and Over The Rhine & Aimee Mann opened … Yeah, it sounds something like that!”
