More apartments leasing downtown starting this fall

Nearly 200 new housing units are expected to become available downtown later this year, with more housing developments planned for the near future. An estimated 71 of those units are expected to become available this fall at The Sutton, currently under construction at the corner of N. Patterson Boulevard and E. First Street. A second project, The Monument, is now under construction across from RiverScape MetroPark at the corner of Monument Avenue and N. St. Clair Street. An estimated 124 units are expected to open there this fall. Development partners Crawford Hoying and Woodard Development are responsible for both The Sutton and The Monument. The partners have already completed three other apartment projects around downtown since 2016.

Several more development projects are in the early stages of planning and construction as the demand for downtown housing continues to grow. Ground was recently broken at the corner of Wayne Avenue and E. Fourth Street for The 503, being developed by Weyland Ventures. Leasing of the estimated 158 apartments is expected to begin early next year. The 503 is part of a proposed live, work, and play district called Oregon East. Weyland Ventures also developed the nearby Wheelhouse Lofts which opened on Wayne Avenue in 2017.
