Sinclair College has been named the winner of the Leah Meyer Austin Award. The award from Achieving the Dream (ATD) is the highest honor possible for colleges in the ATD network. Winners are chosen based on overall student success and institutional equity. ATD says Sinclair was chosen for its consistent and strategic commitment to student success which has led to overall campus and institutional improvements that have continued even through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This honor reflects years of effort to maximize equity and student success,” Dr. Steven L. Johnson, Sinclair’s president and CEO said in the award announcement. “From comprehensive high-level policy reviews to individual student-advisor conversations, Sinclair has demonstrated its commitment to ensuring that all students achieve their goals.” ATD says that over the past decade, Sinclair has put initiatives in place across the college that have focused on educational support, academic planning, and shortening the time to a degree.
