The renovation of a historic downtown hotel has received backing from the state in the form of tax credits. Algonquin Hotel will bring more entertainment, dining, and retail to the first floor of the 12-story building while transforming former rooms on the upper floors to 106 new apartments. The project is expected to cost $39 million and just received a $3.8 million credit from the Ohio Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program. The project received another $3.8 million late in 2022. The hotel opened more than 100 years ago at the corner of Ludlow and Third Streets. It was last in operation in 2016 as the Dayton Grand Hotel.
