SEASON FOR NONVIOLENCE
January 30, 2024 – Apr. 4, 2024
A Season For Nonviolence encompasses the 64 calendar days between the commemorative dates of Mahatma Gandhi’s assassination and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s. It is a national educational, media, and grassroots campaign dedicated to demonstrating that non-violence is a powerful way to heal, transform, and empower our lives and our communities.
The purpose of this site is to promote and spread the principles of nonviolence, creating a more inclusive, understanding, and compassionate society, ultimately helping to bridge the social divide in communities here at home and across America.
Friday 26 Jan 2024:
- 2-4pm: Press Conference at IPM
- 6pm: Thank you dinner for contributing partners
Saturday 27 Jan 2024: A Season For Nonviolence Opening Event (Suggested donation: $50/person) *Tickets will be available. Limited seating.
- 1pm: Flame of Hope Free Workshop (location TBD)
- 6pm: Doors open
- 6:30-6:55: Introductory Remarks, Welcome, Mayor Mims’s Proclamation, Guest musicians/
- 6:55-7:15: Flame of Hope Presentation
- 7:15: Speakers
- 7:45: Panel Discussion
- 8:15-8:30: Q & A
- 8:30-9:00: Closing/Flame of Hope Intentions
Sunday 28 Jan 2024: Visit to Antioch College and The Coretta Scott King Center *Schedule subject to change
- 12:00pm: Lunch in Yellow Springs
- 1:00pm: Tour/Visit of The Coretta Scott King Center/ World House Choir/ Flame of Hope
