A new downtown retailer is preparing to open its doors. Base Camp Outdoors Co. has announced that its 5,700-square-foot location at 420 E. First St. is expected to open at the end of September. The locally-owned business offers apparel, accessories, and equipment for outdoor activities including camping, hiking, and more. Owners Brycen and Claire Cross tell the Dayton Business Journal that they’re excited to have the company’s first physical location in downtown Dayton.

“Across the board, we are passionate about increasing the vibrancy of Downtown Dayton and our urban areas and being a local fixture Daytonians can be proud of,” said Brycen Cross, Base Camp president and CEO.

“With downtown Dayton being a hub for activity in the Miami Valley, we couldn’t think of any better place to set up Base Camp for people to come together, learn, plan and equip themselves to go after their next adventure,” Claire Cross, vice president of Base Camp continued.

Once officially open, Base Camp Dayton will operate 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and with limited hours on Sunday.
