The NCAA has announced that the First Four games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament will continue to be held in Dayton through at least 2028. Dayton had initially been confirmed as the host site through 2026. So far, UD Arena has hosted 137 NCAA basketball tournament games, more than any other facility in the country. The commitment through 2028 will bring that number to 150.

“Our region is uniquely qualified to continue our long-standing and successful partnership with the NCAA,” said UD Vice-President and Director of Athletics, Neil Sullivan. “We are excited that partnership yields another extension of the NCAA First Four.”

Dayton has been host to the First Four since 2001. According to the Dayton Business Journal, the tournament brings around a $5 million economic impact to the area each year. Overall, the games are estimated to have brought in more than $110 million to the region during its 23-year-long residency.
