Property owners, business leaders, community partners, and other key stakeholders received an update about downtown Dayton late last week during the 2024 Special Improvement District (SID) annual meeting. The meeting featured brief presentations about downtown vitality and progress from SID Board Members in addition to a conversation about mixed-use development trends in our community and nationwide.

Key figures shared during the meeting include:

  • $400 million in projects from public and private-sector investments in Greater Downtown Dayton have been completed so far in 2024 or are anticipated to be completed before the end of the year. This is the largest downtown investment since tracking began in 2010.
  • Downtown foot traffic is at 84% of where it was before the pandemic.
  • 2024 saw 353 newly added/anticipated housing units, bringing the total to 2,386 housing units downtown.
  • 28 new businesses have opened their doors so far in 2024.

Downtown news and quarterly progress reports are available on the Downtown Dayton Partnership website.
