November 14, 2024 (DAYTON, Ohio) – The Downtown Dayton Partnership hosted an annual review of progress in the Special Improvement District (SID) on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at THE NEON movie theater, 130 E. Fifth Street. Property owners, business leaders, community partners, and other key stakeholders gathered to hear updates highlighting recent progress from DDP staff and other guest speakers.
Highlights from the event included brief presentations from DDP President Katie Meyer and SID Board Members about downtown’s vitality and progress across downtown. SID Board Chair Ryan Powell also discussed the upcoming SID renewal. A conversation on mixed-use development trends in downtown Dayton shared insights about several large downtown projects and those currently underway.
“Even among more than a decade of incredible progress, 2024 has been an exceptional year for downtown Dayton,” said Katie Meyer, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. “Downtown is outpacing other metro areas across the country as it has returned to 84% of its pre-pandemic foot traffic levels. We’re celebrating $400 million in projects finished in 2024, which is the most downtown Dayton has seen since 2010. Overall we’re standing at $2.55 billion in projects completed since 2010 and we are on track to reach $3.5 billion by 2030. With those new projects comes a growing and enthusiastic community; this year, downtown Dayton gained nearly 30 new businesses, more than 350 new housing units, with construction of hundreds of new hotel rooms underway. Downtown Dayton is on a roll and we’re looking forward to continued growth in the years to come.”
From this year’s presentation, big numbers came out of the SID:
