The Artemis Center, 310 W. Monument Avenue, is marking four decades of service this month. The center was founded in 1985 to assist domestic violence survivors and their children. The Artemis Center works with several local programs to provide emotional support and advocacy, help survivors navigate the legal system, and connect survivors with safe housing. According to an article in the Dayton Daily News, the Artemis Center answers around 7,000 calls each year through the Montgomery County Crisis Hotline and serves an estimated 5,000 survivors annually.
