New Pay Stations Aim to Make Downtown Parking More Convenient

Mike ColvinFast Facts

The City of Dayton has installed new parking pay stations along parts of two downtown streets in an effort to improve the payment process. According to the Dayton Daily News, the eight multi-space pay stations have replaced 23 single-space meters on North Main Street and East and West Third Streets. Each pay station features a touch screen and multiple languages, and accepts payment through coins, credit cards, contactless tap payments, and text messages. Dayton’s city engineer, David Escobar, tells the Dayton Daily News that there are more than 1,100 metered parking spaces downtown and that the city is evaluating potential locations for additional multi-space pay stations.
