The Dayton Police Department shared an update about a temporary downtown police substation coming to Main Street later this winter. According to News Center 7, the temporary substation is expected to open in early March and will help Dayton police officers monitor downtown more closely while construction continues on a permanent substation. The temporary substation is expected to include areas for roll call, officer cubicles, sergeant offices, plus meeting and conference rooms.
Additionally, Dayton police officers expect to enact 24/7 officer coverage of Downtown Dayton and designate a detective to be assigned only to downtown cases. The permanent police substation at the corner of St. Clair and Fourth Streets is expected to open in the coming years.
A video featuring a closer look at the temporary downtown substation is available on WHIO’s website.
