Heads up! Dayton Police & Fire will be training this week in the area of East Second Street and North Jefferson Street downtown.The training will involve DFD and DPD members in full personal protective equipment, and portions of the training will involve loud noises, simulated gunfire, and mock victims being loaded into medical transport units. Downtown residents, visitors, and businesses should expect a heavy police and fire department presence in this area and surrounding blocks from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on April 20, 21, 22, & 23, 2026.These exercises are part of ongoing efforts to ensure the highest level of preparation and coordination among the city's emergency responders.
