Several downtown businesses are celebrating this month as they open the doors on renovated, expanded, and new locations, respectively.

First, the Dayton Vitality Hotel has begun a phased opening at 33 E. Fifth St., just across from the Dayton Convention Center. The new hotel is located at the site of the former Radisson Hotel, which closed in late-2022. Operators of the Dayton Vitality Hotel, The Bright Group, call it a tech-forward hotel blending convenience, design, and community-focused amenities. The 13-story hotel has a pool, fitness center, event spaces, a rooftop bar, and more than 280 guest rooms, but not all floors or amenities are open just yet.

Gulzar’s Indian Cuisine has found its new home just steps away from its first Dayton location. The restaurant opened the doors of its new space at 219 N. Patterson Blvd. late last month. Owners Deepika & Jay Singh say the new restaurant is about 5,700 square feet and features a large dining area, buffet space, bar, and space for larger groups and events. Gulzar’s Indian Cuisine just celebrated the second anniversary of its Downtown Dayton opening in May.

Cornerstone First Mortgage has opened its newest office in Downtown Dayton. The residential mortgage lender held its ribbon cutting at 14 W. First St. earlier this month. The full-service mortgage bank handles all aspects of the loan process in-house.

Finally, Good Hands Bread Co. is preparing to open its first brick-and-mortar location. The locally-owned bakery hopes to open inside of the Dietz Block Building, 531 Wayne Avenue, by the end of this summer. The bakery currently operates inside of the 2nd Street Market and plans to continue operating its stand there on weekends. Work has begun on the new location, but an opening date has not yet been announced.
