Dayton Metro Library is hosting its 1st Annual International Black Film Festival Thursday, October 24-Saturday, October 26. The month of October in the United Kingdom is Black History Month, and DML wants its patrons to celebrate the rich cultural accounts of various Black cinema with diverse stories of the Africa Diaspora. All films will be shown in the Main Library’s Eichelberger Forum. Here’s a schedule of showings:
Thursday, October 24:
- 4-6 pm: Black Dandy: A Political Beauty (French/English subtitles, 2015, NR)
- 6-8 pm: Brothers Hypnotic: The Sons of Jazz Legend Phil Cohran (English, 2013, NR)
Friday, October 25:
- 2-4 pm: Faat Kiné (French/English subtitles, 2001, NR)
- 4-6 pm: Black is the Color: A History of African American Art (French, English subtitles, 2016, NR)
Saturday, October 26:
- 11 am-1 pm: Oscar Micheaux: The Superhero of Black Filmmaking (English, 2021, NR)
- 1-3 pm: Karmen GeÏ (French/English subtitles, 2001, NR)
- 3-5 pm: Hit! (English, 1973, Rated R)
