Join us for an engaging evening of art, architecture, and community! Enjoy bites, drinks, and insights from renowned local artists — Terry Welker, FAIA, Jes McMillan, Sierra Leone, and James Pate. The four artists who created the Seed of Life Memorial to honor the victims of the August 4, 2019, Oregon District shooting will patriciate in a panel-style discussion. They look back at their contribution with contentment, gratitude, and hope. The event starts at 5:30 PM at the Charity Early Auditorium with a reception, followed by the panel discussion at 6:00 PM. The Seed of Life team, consisting of architect, sculptor, and urban designer Terry Welker; artist and community builder Jes McMillan; poet, educator, and community builder Sierra Leone; and artist, designer, and community builder James Pate, were chosen by the 8/4 Memorial Committee last November to create the site. The memorial was dedicated and unveiled on August 4, the fifth anniversary of the tragedy.
