Join us on March 1st at the International Peace Museum for a day dedicated to the power of words, literacy, and activism! The event kicks off at 3 PM with a screening of Sentenced, followed by an insightful talk at 6 PM with Rivera Sun, a renowned non-violence and climate activist and 2019 nominee for the Dayton Literary Peace Prize. Food and drinks will be available, and donations are highly appreciated to support the museum’s ongoing mission. Don’t miss this engaging and important day! An eye-opening documentary about the impact of illiteracy, Sentenced highlights the struggles of those who never learn to read. Doors open at 2:30 PM.

Filmed from the point of view of ethnically diverse adults and children who have never learned to read, the documentary is a forceful yet tender tale of how literacy can free children from the cycles of generational poverty.
