Dayton Metro Library is excited to partner with Dayton Literary Peace Prize and the University of Dayton to welcome 2016 Nonfiction Dayton Literary Peace Prize Winner Susan Southard to host a Dayton Literary Peace Prize 20th Anniversary Event on Thursday, May 15, from 6:30-8 pm, at the University of Dayton Roger Glass Center for the Performing Arts.
Southard’s winning book, Nagasaki – Life After Nuclear War (2015), will be discussed in commemoration of the 80th remembrance of the dropping of the bomb on Nagasaki. She will take the audience through the days leading up to and following the event. Southard’s work makes a profound inquiry into the extremes of human violence and what it does to both victim and victimizer.
A reception will be held at 5:30 pm, with the main event beginning at 6:30 pm. The University of Dayton Roger Glass Center for the Performing Arts is located at 29 Creative Way, Dayton, 45479. Those interested in attending are asked to fill out a complimentary RSVP at https://am.ticketmaster.com/rogerglass/buy/dlpp25. Copies of Nagasaki – Life After Nuclear War are also available for checkout at any DML Branch.
