There’s always something fun going on downtown! Below you’ll find a list of events scheduled for today. Use the filters at the top to find events by date, keyword, and more. You can also view the calendar by month or as a list of 20 events at a time.
Have an event to submit to our calendar? If it is located downtown (within our service area) and open to the public, it’s likely we’ll include it. Send us your event info using our event submission form.

Free comics for all ages (while supplies last). Enter for a chance to win prizes too.
Community Comic Creating (Opportunity Space @ Patterson)
Join other comic book lovers in creating your own story using our large comic panel templates.
Super Crafts (Community Room 2B)
Make crafts using re-purposed comic pages.
Kids Picks Cartoons (Community Room 2A)
Watch a selection of cartoons featuring animated friends while making a super craft.

Make Yourself a Hero (Green Screen Room)
10 am-2 pm
Play with props, backgrounds, and green screen technology to place yourself in the story.
Power Play: Superhero Escape Room (Conference Room 3A)
10-11 am, 11:30 am-12:30 pm, 1-2 pm, and 2:30-3:30 pm
You wake up in a room as your secret identity, without your superpowers. If you don’t escape in the next hour, they’ll be gone forever! Fun for adults and families with children age seven and older. Registration required.

How to Use Comics to Tell a Story (Conference Room 1A)

Presented by Sparkle Comics, Dayton’s own comics publisher, learn how to use comics as a medium to tell great stories, from getting started to the basics of self-publishing.
Make Your Own Comic Book (Conference Room 1A)
12:30-2 pm
Using premade comic panels, create a comic book. Binding materials and instructions are available.
Comic Book Collecting with Tony Woltermann (Conference Room 1B)
1-2 pm
Woltermann is a long-time collector who will take patrons through the basics of creating, maintaining, and evaluating a comic book collection. Learn about things that impact the value of comic books, review methods of tracking collections, and learn tips for inexperienced buyers and sellers.
