Gem City Roller Derby

Gem City Roller Derby is a women’s flat track roller derby team based in Dayton, Ohio. GCRD is a skater-owned and operated non-profit that was founded in Dayton in 2006. As a registered 501c3 non-profit organization, all funds raised go directly toward supporting the league and the local community. Dayton’s number of league members fluctuates, but averages out around 60 skaters and 80 total members, including coaches, officials, and volunteers. Gem City plays nearly year-round, fielding its competitive travel teams (Purple Reign and Violet Femmes). As well as our recreational team, Purple Haze. Check out our family friendly upcoming events to attend a bout and see us play in person! Roller derby is an athletic pursuit of skating fast and hitting hard. Using quick thinking strategy to gain the most points to win the bout, all while avoiding time in the penalty box. The Dayton Convention Center hosts GCRD in a space that allows for a great view of the action in the heart of downtown Dayton.
