HEARTSIQ’s Mixtape – A Queer Arts Festival during Dayton Pride

HEARTSIQ is a Queer focused art, music, and performance group that has organized monthly events at the Yellow Cab Tavern for the past seven months. With Dayton Pride scheduled for June 2nd through 4th, they have announced their three day festival featuring eclectic artists, musicians, vendors, and two nights of silent disco dance parties, all happening at the Tavern.

“The Dayton LGBTQIA+++ community is one of the most accepting and loving groups of folks in our city,” Sabrina Cox, HEARTSIQ board member and organizer said. “After losing Masque, it felt like the younger queer community, and those questioning their identity, were lost and without a hub – And the rest of the community had one less place to gather.” she continued. “HEARTSIQ was the brainchild of one of those amazing people, Ky Heart- and gives the answer to ‘where do we go now?”

“Mixtape is going to be BONKERS.” Ky Heart, HEARTSIQ Founder and President said. “We’ve got artists of all kinds, from vendors to bands to visual artists to poets and more. We’ve got a silent disco each night. You’ve never seen a pride after party like this one!”

HEARSIQ’s announced entertainment lineup includes headliners Abertooth Lincoln (Dayton), Leggy (Cincinnati), two nights of Dayton Silent Disco, small artist showcases, visual showcases, drag performance from Scarlett Moon and friends, burlesque performances, DJs, poetry and more. They are hosting handmade vendors, food trucks, and more in their “Night Market” area. Events start at 6pm on June 2nd and 3rd, and 11am on June 4th.

“Our monthly HEARTSIQ events are aimed to be a showcase of all types of art created and performed by folx of the Queer community.” Kim L, HEARTSIQ board member and local DJ said. “Dayton has been in desperate need of a common gathering place and events for the Queer Community for some time now. We have been blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate and create a space for us to celebrate ourselves, love each other, and to thrive as a whole.” she continued.

“In this world full of hate and violence, we are all looking for a safe space to be ourselves,” Kacie Lawrence, Marketing Director and Board Member said. “HEARTSIQ fills the gap in Dayton we all needed. The younger queer community wants to feel fully accepted; we no longer need to limit ourselves to just ‘gay’ and ‘lesbian’. There’s a whole community of individuals who need representation, and HEARTSIQ is here to do that.”

“HEARTSIQ has been a dream come true so far.” Ky Continued. “I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to showcase queer art and artists in my city. The support has been incredible – it feels like Dayton has really embraced us and we’re so excited to keep growing!”

HEARTSIQ’s Mixtape tickets are $15 for a Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd weekend pass with an additional $10 add on for their drag brunch on Sunday, June 4th. Single night tickets are $9 in advance and $12 at the door each night for both Friday and Saturday with Drag Brunch Tickets available for $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Cover and doors open at 6:00pm on Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd with the full Night Market and entertainment starting at the same time. Drag brunch cover starts at 11am on Sunday, June 4th with performance starting at 11:45am.
