Dayton Metro Library will host No Blank Canvas Presents: Built to Last – A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Life of a Professional Tattoo Artist on Saturday, March 21, 2-4 pm, in the Teen Edge area of the Main Library.
Local tattoo artist Alex Wood will share her knowledge and experience in the art world and lead activities to boost participants’ skills. Topics include what a typical workday looks like for a tattoo artist, working with clients, creating designs, presenting oneself professionally, building a portfolio, and understanding how artwork translates to a client’s skin. Teens don’t need to be interested in tattoos to appreciate this program; artists of all kinds can learn skills to help them grow and refine their craft, no matter the medium.
Additionally, DML will host a series, No Blank Canvas – Explore Careers in the Arts!, with each session focusing on different arts-related careers and led by a DML Teen Librarian. Teens will learn tips, tools of the trade, art skill-building, portfolio development, and more. Each session will be held in the Main Library’s Teen Edge area and will require registration.
