“The Banker,” a film about Black businessmen breaking into the segregated American housing market in the 1960s, will be presented in celebration of Fair Housing Month.
The free screening begins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, at the Dayton Metro Library Eichelberger Forum, 215 E. Third St. The George Nolfi-directed film features Anthony Mackie, Samuel L. Jackson and Nia Long.
The Dayton Human Relations Council presents the movie in partnership with the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, the Dayton Mediation Center, Advocates for Basic Legal Equality, and the Greater Dayton Association of Realtors.
After the screening, a panel of housing opportunity specialists will lead a discussion about the promise and pitfalls of the Civil Rights Act and the Fair Housing Act. Refreshments will be provided; seating is limited.
