Dayton Metro Library will host The Black Child Book Fair Tour on Saturday, October 18, from 10 am-3 pm, in the Bassani Theater Off Third, 3rd Floor, and the Community Room at the Main Library.
The Black Child Book Fair is a nonprofit organization that promotes African American-focused reading materials in urban communities nationwide. Its mission is to enrich the educational, emotional, developmental, and social needs of youth from diverse backgrounds.
“Books for Black children are hard to find,” is a statement heard all too often in society. Black children need to see faces that look like theirs and read stories about people who look like them – written by people who look like them.
Families are invited to join DML for this transformative event, which aims to close the Greater Dayton Area’s opportunity gap through literacy awareness.
