Fast Facts: New Downtown Circulator Launching Nov. 9

Mike ColvinFast Facts

One of the promises included in the Greater Downtown Dayton Plan will soon be fulfilled. Starting Friday, Nov. 9, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority will introduce a free downtown circulator connecting dozens of destinations between the University of Dayton and RiverScape MetroPark. The Flyer is a distinctively branded hybrid electric bus that will run 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturdays. To use the free service, simply stand at one of the designated Flyer stops and catch the next Flyer, which arrives no later than every 10 minutes. The official launch event will take place at 10 a.m. Nov. 9 on Courthouse Square. From there, the inaugural Flyer will depart the launch party, and the rest of the fleet will start circulation. The Flyer (as well as other RTA routes) can be tracked using RideTime, or by downloading the free Transit app from Apple’s App Store or Google Play. The Flyer is made possible through sponsorship support from Premier Health, CareSource, and the University of Dayton. For how-to videos, a map of all the stops, and more information, visit iriderta.org/TheFlyer.
