Fast Facts: Study Shows CareSource Has Nearly $1B Impact in Ohio

Mike Colvin Fast Facts

According to a recent study, downtown Dayton-headquartered CareSource has a total economic output in the state of Ohio of almost one billion dollars. The study, conducted by the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, found that CareSource supported 8,407 full- and part-time jobs in Ohio in 2019. These jobs, including 4,264 direct jobs, generated $42 million in state and local taxes and corresponded to a total of $965 million in economic output.

In just the Dayton region, CareSource:

  • supported 4,467 jobs, including 2,955 CareSource employees, for $289 million in total labor income impact
  • contributed $351 million to the additional value of goods and services produced in the region
  • resulted in $468 million in annual economic output impact
  • generated $10 million in local tax revenue

The study found that for every two employees, CareSource creates an additional job in the Dayton region and another job elsewhere in Ohio, and for every dollar spent of CareSource’s budget, Dayton’s regional economy created 90 cents of additional output.
