Downtown will soon be a little sweeter and meatier with the news that a new bakery and a local deli have signed leases to occupy downtown Dayton storefronts. Kia Cake and Company has signed a lease to move into the ground floor of the Biltmore Towers at 15 E. First Street. The store will be a dessert cafe, with a focus on cupcakes and other sweet treats, and plans to open later this spring or early summer owner Kia Johnson told Dayton.com.

Flyboys Deli, which has been open in Oakwood since 2013, will soon move into ground floor space in CareSource’s Ballpark Village, located at 230 E. Monument Ave. Owners told the Dayton Business Journal that downtown is the ideal location to open, with close proximity to thousands of downtown workers, new residential developments and community events. The deli will operate six days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner with plans to open in the coming months.
