Belle of Dayton Distillery recently announced it plans to add an outdoor patio to its Van Buren Room cocktail bar at 122 Van Buren St. The Dayton Landmarks Commission recently approved the project, which includes construction of a patio on the east side of the Van Buren Room, facing Wayne Avenue. Co-owner Mike LaSelle told Dayton.com that, in addition to investing in the business, he wanted to help create a more welcoming entrance to the Oregon District from Wayne Avenue, bringing that street into “the Fifth Street vibe.” LaSelle noted that concrete work would likely be done in the remaining warm months of this year, with the rest of construction done next spring. Current plans call for offering cocktails, wine, and beer on the patio, with the possibility of food trucks serving patrons. The patio also is slated to include landscaping and a garden that will provide herbs for Van Buren’s cocktails.
