Additional improvements and redevelopment could be on the horizon for a downtown landmark with more than 100 years of history. The Montgomery County Board of Commissioners has approved the transfer of the historic Memorial Hall to the Montgomery County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC). According to the Dayton Business Journal, the CIC will help to identify a developer for upcoming improvements that create a community asset and maintain the building’s historic integrity.
“Our goal is to preserve the building’s history, strengthen the vitality of downtown, and create a space that the community can enjoy for generations to come,” said CIC president Troy Singer.
Recent improvements to the building by the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners include a new roof, refinished stage, and updated preservation guidelines in the building’s deed.
