July 29, 2024 (DAYTON, Ohio) – The Downtown Dayton Partnership is proud to announce the eighth annual Art in the City, presented by AES Ohio, this Saturday, August 3. The yearly celebration of the arts is a signature event of the AES Ohio Summer in the City series. From 1 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, August 3, artists, families, and art lovers of all ages are invited to learn more about their favorite styles of visual and performing art through workshops, enjoy live performances, make their mark with hands-on projects, and create lasting memories in downtown Dayton.

“The arts are a crucial piece of our downtown and Art in the City is a way for us to come together to celebrate the local artists, creatives, and art lovers who help keep our arts community thriving,” said Katie Meyer, president of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. “There really is something for art enjoyers of all kinds at this event, and we hope it may even light the spark for the future artists who will continue to share their creativity downtown.”

With more than 300 local artists expected to share their talents, more than 30 hands-on activities and demonstrations, and more than 100 live performances, Art in the City has something for guests of all ages and around every corner of downtown Dayton. Start planning your day-long celebration of the arts with event guides available now online and at participating downtown businesses. Guides include maps, schedules, and more to help guests navigate a day full of workshops, interactive projects, live performances, the Art Bazaar on 5th, a Juried Art Show, and more happening at venues around downtown Dayton.

“The AES Ohio Summer in the City series of events has activities for all ages from festivals to recreational activities, locally owned restaurants and shops. The Dayton Region has an engaged visual and performing arts community and Art in the City is an event that celebrates our artists,” said AES Ohio Corporate Communication Director Mary Ann Kabel. “We are committed to our partners who welcome all people to explore the vibrancy downtown Dayton has to offer.”

Guests are invited to kick off the celebration of the visual and performing arts during the Art in the City First Friday pre-pARTy from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday, August 2. Various downtown businesses will host live performances, special art-themed events, Parties on the Patio, and entries for this year’s Juried Art Show, juried by the Dayton Society of Artists, for guests to enjoy before Art in the City begins.
