New Owners of Downtown Building Outline Future Plans

Mike ColvinFast Facts

The Dietz Block building at the corner of Wayne Avenue and Jones Street has a new owner. Dayton residents Burgess and Jeanine Gow purchased the 11,000-square-foot property last month. According to an article from the Dayton Daily News, the couple plans to invest about $400,000 into the property that was originally built in 1886. Roof work is expected to begin later this year before restoration begins on the building’s exterior. The new owners say they hope to turn the space into a mixed-use property featuring a restaurant and retailers on the ground level with apartments upstairs. The couple hopes to have at least one new tenant open on the first floor by spring of 2025. The Pretty House Salon, located in the back of the building, will remain open in its current location.
