Tell us a bit about yourself and your business.
My name is Greg Lloyd and my wife Vanessa helps manage our dry cleaning business. We are a full service dry cleaner. We clean pretty much anything, including shirts, slacks, jackets, dresses, coats, leather, suede, household items such as comforters, drapes and even UGG boots. We have the best prices on all of our services in this area. We believe in giving our customers the best price up front rather than having coupons or gimmicks. However, we don’t cut corners. The equipment we use is the best in the industry and on average our staff has close to 20 years experience. Our goal is to keep loyal customers coming back.
What made you decide to open your own small business and how long have you been in operation?
I bought a dry cleaner in the Dayton area 10 years ago, and we opened our downtown location approximately two years ago. My wife Vanessa grew up in Trotwood and her first job was working in downtown Dayton. She remembered the vitality and culture of downtown Dayton. We wanted to be part of the revitalization of downtown Dayton and felt it was a great place to have a local on-site dry cleaner.
What do you enjoy about working in downtown Dayton?
We enjoy meeting new customers every day – some who have moved downtown, different professions, and many who just heard there is now a local dry cleaner. We’ve seen the changes in the downtown area, including new residential and businesses relocating, along with updating the roads and buildings. However, even with the changes, the downtown area still maintains its culture and heritage.
Tell us something about your business that may surprise people to learn.
When people think of dry cleaning, they often think of professional attire. However, we clean everyday clothing on a regular basis. Working at home in sweats and sweatshirts? We get plenty of those too. Need a hat cleaned, stuffed animal, sheets? Even Santa and the Easter Bunny come to our store to get their outfits cleaned! And when you have things professionally cleaned, the cleaning process kills all viruses and germs. In our world today, that is very important.
Also, our services will soon be available through the TUMBLE app. You can order/schedule dry cleaning and/or wash, dry, and fold services. We will announce more when it is launched!
How is your business coping with the pandemic and how can people support you now?
We have been able to survive with the help of grants offered and disaster assistance. We have adapted our business to offer free pick up and delivery in the area. We also offer curbside assistance. The Downtown Dayton Partnership has been very instrumental in helping us survive during this time. They helped install the 10 minute free parking by our store and had the parking lot across the street open for customers at no charge. The best way to help our business is by word of mouth and using our services when needed.
