Tell us a bit about yourself and your business. What made you decide to open your own small business and how long have you been in operation?
Rich Taste Catering is a full service catering company offering fresh and flavorful meals for weddings, private social and corporate events! We also offer a meal prep service and food supplier services to universities, healthcare facilities and hotels. We’ve been in business for about 5 years! We loved our jobs but really wanted more freedom with our time and the way that we work. We dreamed of growing a family and creating a balanced work and home life. We both love food and Gerald has an amazing talent! It’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made!
What do you enjoy about working in downtown Dayton?
We love working in downtown Dayton. As a catering company that provides services all over North and Southwest Ohio it’s a huge convenience for us. We love being centrally located next to some of our favorite businesses and clients. We love the people and the growth we’ve seen just in our 3 years here.
Tell us something about your business that may surprise people to learn.
We are very open on social media but it may surprise people that Gerald prepares ALL of our meals from scratch with little to no assistance. He gets in his zone and really gets it done. Although that will change soon, it’s pretty remarkable to watch. Other than that we are a veteran owned company and our new service of providing food services to those looking to outsource dining options isn’t well known.
How is your business coping with the pandemic and how can people support you now?
The initial affect of the pandemic was rough. As a company that mostly works with customers for private events and companies that feed their staff, the canceling of events and work from home solutions hurt. However, we are people of faith and we couldn’t have asked for better customers and clients during this time. Some of our customers called shortly after restrictions were lifted and asked “What can we order? Can we buy this?” We are forever thankful for those businesses to think of us as they too were affected. Going forward we look for support by sharing our information on social media, maybe ordering meal prep for yourself or a friend that is high risk, or simply just thinking of us if any occasion or food service need crosses your path for years to come.
We are thankful for to be in downtown Dayton, to be centered in a city of love and perseverance. We want to encourage all of our neighbors to shop local, shop small and stay encouraged!
