New life could be coming soon to an iconic piece of Downtown Dayton’s skyline. The Centre City building at the corner of Fourth and Main Streets has been vacant for more than 10 years. According to updates from a recent Dayton City Commission meeting, the 21-story building could be re-developed to contain more than 200 housing units and an additional 11,000 square feet of retail space on its first floor. The housing section of the building would be made up of market-rate housing, workforce housing, and affordable senior units.

According to the Dayton Daily News, Model Group, in partnership with Cross Street Partners, has been working on redevelopment plans for the Centre City building for several years. The same development team is behind the recent and ongoing renovation of the Dayton Arcade. The City of Dayton recently approved $6 million in funding toward the project. Developers expect to spend more than $100 million dollars on the renovation and have already secured millions of dollars in tax credits.
