The Greater Dayton RTA plans to launch two new routes with downtown service on August 31. Route 3 will run daily from 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and use the RTA’s NexGen electric trolleys. Major destinations along the route include Ballpark Village and The Oregon District downtown as well as Dayton Children’s and the Eastown Shopping Center. The Route X6 will also launch on August 31 with express service to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. The route will run daily from 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. to align with the museum’s hours.
Next year, the Greater Dayton RTA plans to transform its former concourse on E. Third St. at the Wright Stop Plaza into an interactive learning center. According to the Dayton Daily News, the new learning center will include a variety of displays teaching kids about buses and routes, vehicles for kids to touch and explore, murals about the history of the RTA, and a variety of mini-museums featuring RTA memorabilia. Local schools will also be able to schedule how-to-ride classes for their students. The new interactive experience is expected to open in late 2026.
