More than $2,500 in prizes will be up for grabs during giveaways and contests Saturday, November 30
November 27, 2024 (DAYTON, Ohio) – Buying local can have an additional payoff for some lucky shoppers in downtown Dayton! The Shop Small, Win Big giveaways are back on Saturday, November 30, with a new way to win! The Downtown Dayton Partnership (DDP) and The Real Elf are teaming up to help kick off the holiday season during this day of elfies, shopping, and fun.
Starting at 11 a.m. and until 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 30, shoppers can find The Real Elf and DDP staff members at various small businesses and locations around downtown Dayton. Shoppers of all ages are invited to take an “elfie” with The Real Elf and explore each of the stops while guests 18 and older may also enter to win Downtown Dollars and prize baskets of goodies purchased from downtown businesses.
“Shopping local makes such an impact for our small businesses every holiday season,” said Katie Meyer, President of the Downtown Dayton Partnership. “The Shop Small, Win Big event is a fun way for us to thank shoppers for supporting the small businesses that drive our downtown Dayton community.”
At each of the five participating locations, shoppers 18 and older can share their name and contact email address to enter a giveaway for a gift basket containing up to $500 of items from downtown Dayton businesses and Downtown Dollars. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter and the winner does not need to be present at time of drawing. Only one basket winner per household is allowed, and participants may only win one of the five available gift baskets. Winners will be announced at each location. If not present, winners will be contacted by email with more information.
Giveaway times and locations include:
• 11:00 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. – Winans Coffee + Chocolate, 221 N. Patterson Rd.
- 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. – Val’s Bakery, 25 S. St. Clair St.
- 1:00 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. – Now & Zen DIY Studio, 121 E. Third St.
- 2:00 p.m. to 2:50 p.m. – RiverScape MetroPark Ice Rink, 237 E. Monument Ave.
- 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. – Mike’s Vintage Toys, 508 E. Fifth St.
New this year, shoppers can also play the Holiday Hop Quiz to win up to $25 in Downtown Dollars! Each round will be held on the journey to and from participating Shop Small, Win Big businesses with the help of GEST Carts Dayton. The Real Elf will choose up to two players at each location to ride along and answer holiday trivia questions. Each question answered correctly will earn the player $5 in Downtown Dollars.
All gift baskets contain Downtown Dollars and items from downtown businesses – many of which can be found in the Downtown Dayton Holiday Gift Guide. The Downtown Dayton Partnership has collected gift, dining, and experience ideas in the digital guide, available now. Shoppers are encouraged to browse the guide to find the perfect gift for everyone on this year’s shopping lists. Downtown Dollars also make a great gift as the e-gift card can be sent digitally and used at more than 70 downtown businesses.
