The iconic Centre City Building, considered to be Dayton’s first skyscraper, has received New Markets Tax Credits for a project to redevelop the building into The Mainline, featuring 8,800 square feet of commercial space and more than 200 residential units. According to the Dayton Business Journal, CityWide Development Corp. secured $12 million in federal credits and $1 million in state projects for the project, allocated through the Dayton Region New Market Fund.
“To be part of the reactivation of such a recognizable structure in Dayton is exciting,” CityWide president Dan Kane told the DBJ. “Development takes time and we are pleased that the conversations, which began years ago, have culminated in CityWide playing a role in the financing.”
Developer Model Group is leading the transformative project, revitalizing the building first constructed in 1904 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. The DBJ noted the project has a goal of substantial completion by the end of 2027.
