Plans Take Shape for Mendelsons Renovation

Mike Colvin Fast Facts

The 545,000-square-foot Mendelsons Liquidation Outlet building, purchased in recent years by developers Crawford Hoying, is slated to include a variety of uses in its redevelopment. Officials recently announced that renovation plans call for 90,000 square feet of office space, 15,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and 140 new apartments, along with a public parking garage featuring roughly 400 spaces. Crawford Hoying will again work with Woodard Development on this project, the latest for the partnership that has brought several other initatives to life in the Water Street district, including projects underway to create the AC Hotel by Marriott, The Sutton and The Monument apartments, and Madison on First. Work is already underway on the Mendelsons project, and Brent Crawford of Crawford Hoying told the Dayton Daily News that the building will likely begin opening in 2023.
